Heading into the summer and as we approach the end to my son’s last year of Kindergarten, I was trying to think of a cute sort of ‘calling card’ he could hand out to his little friends to stay in touch over the summer. Sure, we could exchange contacts with the parents but I thought this would be a sweet idea of something his friends could hang onto, maybe stick on the fridge and be reminded to get in touch over the summer!

I got busy drawing some popsicles on Affinity Designer, imported them to Canva and made an editable template to share with you! You can change the wording along the top to be any message you’d like, or kids can come up with an individual message themselves for each friend.

You could also cut out the tops of the popsicles after you’ve customized the text and printed them and glue onto real popsicle sticks for a more realistic feel!

What Are Summer Contact Cards?

Summer contact cards are printable cards that kids can personalize with their name and contact information that they can give to their friends to remind others to keep in touch over the summer. Kids can personalize the cards first and then print them, or print them out and they can write in their details by hand.

Contact Card Information Ideas

• chidl’s name
• a parent’s phone number or email address
• perhaps a parent’s name, as well
• Instagram/social information for older teens only
• a personalized message for each friend

Helping Kids Stay in Touch

These cards are a great way for kids to stay in touch over the summer, especially useful if…

• they’ve made new friends during the school year
• are moving to a new school
• will be away attending summer camps
• want to arrange playdates over summer
• simply don’t want to lose touch with classmates

How to Use the Editable Template

Just click on the image at the bottom of this post to access the editable Canva template! If you plan to cut these out on a Cricut or other cutting machine, remember to export them from Canva as a PNG on a transparent background.

Step 1: Open the template in Canva

Click on the image below to access the PDF that will take you to the Editable Canva Template.

Step 2: Add your child’s details

Example:

Name: Emma
Parent’s phone: 555-555-5555
Email: hello@email.com

Step 3: Add a message at the top

You can add your own personal message to the top of each popsicle or keep the default phrase I’ve added. Some ideas: ‘Let’s Play this Summer!’, ‘You’re One Cool Friend!’, ‘Let’s Stay in Touch!’, ‘Let’s have a Cool Summer!’

Step 4: Print the cards

Print the cards out on medium weight cardstock, or have them sent to your favorite print shop to print!

Step 5: Cut out the cards

Cut out by hand or choose ‘Export as PNG’ to export with a transparent background to cut the cards out on a Cricut cutting machine or other die-cutting machine.

Step 6: Hand out the cards!

Kids can now have fun handing out their cute summer-themed cards on the last day of school!
