Hello! I’m back with another set of Kindergarten Printable Crowns! This set of crowns features Canadian wording/spelling for a Canadian school setting: First Day of Junior Kindergarten & First Day of Senior Kindergarten.
Free Printable Junior Kindergarten Crown & Senior Kindergarten Crown
I created these printable crowns as a fun activity for the first days of school when little ones are just getting to know one another. Wonderful for classroom use to help kids learn each other’s names in the first days and weeks of school. The name field is editable in Canva. Includes files for both ‘Junior Kindergarten’ and ‘Senior Kindergarten’ crowns, as well as one with plain ‘First Day of Kindergarten’.
Edit the Canva template with each student’s name and print out on cardstock. A low-key first day of school coloring activity that kids will wear with pride when they’re done!
Each crown reads: ‘Child’s Name – First Day of Kindergarten’ with side bands for kids to fill in their age and favourite colour on the side.
How to Use the About Me Crowns on the First Day of School
Prep Before the First Day
- Open the editable file in Canva and edit the crown with each student’s name.
- Export the file either in PNG or PDF format.
- Open the file on your computer and print out crowns on medium cardstock to have ready for the first day of school.
- Precut the pieces of each crown (optional)
On the First Day of School
- Have students colour in their crowns, fill in their age and favourite colour and decorate as they’d like.
- Assist kids cutting out the crowns or have the pieces precut for them before starting the activity.
- Have the kids use glue sticks to place glue on the grey tab and glue the brim pieces to the main crown.
- Measure to fit the child’s head and either staple, tape or glue in place – if gluing, secure with a paperclip as they dry and then remove paperclip.
- Little ones now have a special ‘First Day’ crown to proudly wear and show off!
Classroom Use
Have students keep their crowns to wear at school in the first few weeks of school to start recognizing and learning one another’s names.
Here are a few more ideas for classroom activities using the Kindergarten Crowns:
Circle Time Crown Activity
Each child wears their crown and shares one thing about themselves.
Grouping and Counting Crown Activity
Help children form groups according to the favourite colour they’ve indicated on their crown. Have them count how many in each group and name which colour has the most, etc. Make a graph of the results on chart paper.
First Day Photos
- Have all the children wear their finished crowns and take a group photo to place in memory books at the end of the year.
- Take individual photos of each child wearing their crown to use as locker or cubby ID decorations.
- “Meet Our Class!” – use the individual photos of students wearing their crowns to place on a bulletin board outside the classroom.
“Find Someone Who…” Crown Activity
After everyone finishes, the teacher could ask:
“Find someone whose favourite colour is the same as yours” or “Find someone who has the same first letter in their name as you.”
